Suffolk Run 2011
What a super day out for all and sundry. We had 83 Minis and MINIs lined up at Aldeburgh and what a splendid sight. We made £1000 for the various charities and the accounts are available to look at.
As far as the observation quiz was concerned, a lot of you got all but one of the clues (even we missed this one on a couple of occasions when checking the route!) and the most unlucky were last years winners, Caroline Warren and this time with Matt Smith. The scribe didn’t write down the full answers and they had to be docked half a mark for 3 clues but they got the number of languages on the census form nearest (only one out - the answer was 56).
The top three all got 17 out of the 18 and it all went to the tie break question. The nearest was Danny Sore (not that near - 23 he said) but this was enough to win him the £25 prize. Next in line were former winners Debbie and Clare, with Simon and Steve in third.
It was difficult to pick out the best car on show and no less than 20 cars received one or more first place votes.
At the end of the day though, my Woody came third with two firsts and two second place votes.
In second place was the 1970 Morris Mini of Andrew Dore with 2 firsts and 3 second place votes.
The winner, and deservedly so, with four first place and four second place votes, was the 1964 Mk 2 Riley Elf belonging to Brian Mateer from Ipswich. Well done as this is a superb car. A picture is below.

The picture below is of Richard presenting a top of the range Ipad to Leigh Baldwin at the Children’s Rainbow Ward at the West Suffolk Hospital. We also provided a stand and both will be used to help the children through their illnesses as well as providing the carers with the means to take the children’s minds off their problems. Thanks to all who helped towards this - it is much appreciated.
